- Horse and carriage ride
One of the nicest things to do in Charleston is take a horse and carriage ride. It’s one of the most famous activities in Charleston, and it’s one of the greatest things to do with kids. Palmetto Carriage Works was our choice, and our guide was both polite and knowledgeable. The ride costs $28 per person and lasts approximately one hour. Buy a ticket in advance here.
- South Carolina Aquarium
The South Carolina Aquarium is a no-brainer for Charleston families. It is home to about 5,000 animals, including sharks, otters, birds, alligators, and fish. Also to the standard aquarium amenities such as touch tanks, feeding times, and educational shows. Don’t miss the massive ocean tank, where they offer daily shark dive displays. - Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry
The Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry is fantastic for engaging children from infancy to ten years old, especially if they enjoy imaginative play. It contains a little grocery, a water play area, soft play, a mediaeval castle, and an arts and crafts room, among other things. Otis, at two years old, was completely enthralled by the whole event. It was our favourite of our children’s excursions to the city of Charleston, South Carolina.
- Boat ride
Getting out on the fluid is one of the most enjoyable and enjoyable ways to explore the city’s attractions. There are numerous tours to choose from, including nature cruises suitable for children. Sullivan’s Island is one of the closest and most popular (it’s only a 20-minute drive from downtown). Isle of Palms is an excellent alternative with a variety of restaurants and amenities. - Angel Oak
The Angel Oak is a stunning sight for the entire family. It contains one of the nations largest oak trees (and the oldest in South Carolina). There’s a large park surrounding it, and it’s on the outskirts of Charleston, so if you’re passing by, it’s a fantastic place for a barbecue.
- Charleston Farmers Market
We love farmer’s markets and think they’re great for kids because there’s usually some sort of goodie to entice them! The Charleston Farmers Market is hosted weekly in Marion Square, and it’s packed with delectable local treats and exciting music.
